Australian pay comparison tool

Work out what PTY/ABN rate you would need.

Build your TFN income from ordinary hours, overtime, allowances and casual loading, then estimate your super, weekly tax, after-tax take-home and the PTY/ABN rate needed to replace the package. Businesses can also use the calculator to estimate an equivalent subcontractor rate for someone moving from TFN employment to working through a PTY/ABN.

Why TFN and PTY/ABN rates are not directly comparable

A TFN hourly rate can come with employer-paid super, paid leave, overtime rates and other employment costs. A PTY/ABN contractor normally has to recover those costs through the invoice rate. This calculator turns those items into one rough equivalent hourly figure.

Overtime

Enter time-and-a-half and double-time hours separately so the TFN side reflects the actual week.

Tax view

The tool now shows a clearer weekly tax breakdown: income tax, Medicare levy and total weekly tax.

Business costs

Add an overhead percentage for insurance, admin and other PTY/ABN costs, plus the optional NSW payroll-tax allowance.
